BIG [EPIC] POWER VS SIZE POWER

Similarities:
Both powers allow you to:
  • make your smilies bigger
  • use an effect to gradually increase the size of your smilies
Differences:
  • Big power only allows you to make a smiley larger and it is by a fixed amount that is not changeable.
  • Size power allows you to reduce or increase the size of a smiley and allows different sizes (both smaller and larger).
  • Big power allows you to gradually increase the size of a smiley, but you are not able to control the timing or the size it becomes.
  • Size power allows you to control the timing of the animation effect of making the smiley bigger/smaller, as well as the size.
  • Big power automatically makes your smiley bigger but only works if you post one smiley only in the message you sent.
  • Size power can be used automatically using the /o effect. (e.g /osize#w9 will make every smiley you use add #size#w9 at the end. e.g (smile#size#w9) Better yet, it will work on every smiley in the message. If you want to use a smiley without the automatic effect, you can use (smile#) and that will negate the /o macro you have set.
  • Size power actually allows you to make the smiley bigger than big power does. (see herefor a comparison)
  • Big power has other effects: #bigsmall and #big
  • Size power does not have a comparable effect to #bigsmall or #big
  • Big power is a “very limited” epic power and costs 5,000 coins in store
  • Size power is unlimited and costs 250 coins in store
So the question must be asked:
Why does BIG power exist?
For all intents and purposes, this power is a bad replica of size power (sans #bigsmall and#big effects) that has less customisation.
The animation on the #bigger effect is also not as smooth as the animation for size power increasing the size of the smiley.
So I have a hard time coming up with a reason why this power exists. It’s possible that weoxo wanted to create a new epic power and this was the best that they could come up with.
To make matters worse, this power is also automatic. Some chat owners may not like large smilies clogging up their chat so they may ban you when you use it or ask you to turn the power off which makes the power less useful.
Who is this power for?
Just like Redcard, it’s meant for people who want to keep everypower.
It’s also possible that users who want to “show off” will also buy it.
Of course, we can’t ignore the fact that this power is “very limited”. This will make it profitable and people will purchase it simply to resell it. However, if people catch onto how useless it is — demand may fall.
One could argue that this power has no true purpose in that case. If you already have everypower, you already have size power.
Also, if you buy this power to show off, I highly doubt anyone will be impressed.
Why is it epic?
It’s simple to understand if we look at weoxo definition of an epic power: “Epic Powers
are rare because they are so expensive, a major proportion of their appeal comes from their rarity. They are a reward for master traders who have made their fortunes and a goal for others to work towards.”
If we look at the phrase “a major proportion of their appeal comes from their rarity”, we can see that weoxo is following this definition. Big power seems to serve no purpose — at least no purpose that I can see. So it stands to reason that weoxo may just end up releasing powers that have no true purpose that are epic.
While I can appreciate the fact that useful powers such as Nick will not be epic or “very limited”, we shouldn’t have to choose between the lesser of two evils.
If you wanted to keep everypower before, you’d have to buy low cost powers that you didn’t really see a use for. Now you have to end up buying expensive powers that you definitely don’t have a use for.
